1. Fostering Unity and Embracing Change in the Workplace

DIC Malaysia Hosts C.O.L.O.R. Workshop, a Team Building session

To foster team unity, enhance skills, and promote a culture of continuous improvement, DIC Malaysia organized the COLOR Workshop on 19th and 20th October 2024. Held at the scenic Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson, the event brought together 225 employees for a weekend of motivation, learning, and team building. The theme, chosen by COO Kenn Chen, revolved around the acronym C.O.L.O.R.—Change, Ownership, Learning, Outperform, Resolute—underscoring the core values that drive DIC Malaysia.

The workshop was structured into 7 groups, with sessions tailored to cater to diverse language preferences: three classes were conducted in English and four in Bahasa Malaysia. This inclusive approach ensured that the message of embracing change and taking ownership resonated with all participants. Each group was guided by an external trainer, making for an engaging and interactive learning experience.

A Weekend of Learning and Growth

The C.O.L.O.R. Workshop kicked off with a high-energy “Morning Zest” session, designed to invigorate participants and set a positive tone for the weekend. The program combined classroom learning with breakout group activities, allowing team members to apply new concepts in real-time. Employees were divided into groups based on their roles within the organization, each focusing on a specialized training program:

Group 1: Management Team & Department Heads – Business Intelligence *VUCA Program

Group 2: Managerial & Senior Executives – Leading & Managing Change

Group 3: Executives & Officers – Paradigm Shift: Foundation of Excellence

Groups 4 & 5: Supervisors – Changing Mindset for Growth and Success

Groups 6 & 7: Non-Supervisory Staff – Positive Working Attitude

Note: *VUCA is one of the programs that focus on: V-Volatility (Ownership & Leadership), U-Uncertainties (Spirit of Challenge), C-Complexity (with creativity and innovation) and A – Ambiguity (apply solutions / view through strategic elements).

All programs were infused with the five core C.O.L.O.R. values, driving home the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and excellence in the workplace.

A Night of Celebration and Transformation

The highlight of the weekend was a gala dinner with a “Butterflies” theme, symbolizing transformation. Employees dressed in their best flower and butterfly-inspired attire, participated in games and a best-dressed contest that added a touch of fun to the evening. The gala was a perfect way to celebrate the achievements of the year while reinforcing the workshop’s message of embracing change.

2. Taking on Social Responsibility for the Community

Siam Chemical Industry Supports Educational Institutions

Siam Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (SCI) places great emphasis on contributing to educational development. SCI is always on the lookout for opportunities to collaborate with educational institutions.

On October 26, 2024, Mr. Chonlatid Na Phatthalung, Director and Factory Manager, accepted the “Outstanding Organization Supporting the Development and Promotion of Teaching and Learning” award on behalf of SCI. The award ceremony took place at Sala Phra Kiao, Chulalongkorn University. This recognition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Department of Materials Science at Chulalongkorn University.

SCI has continuously collaborated and supported in advancing the department’s academic and research initiatives, helping it achieve outstanding success.

SCI is actively involved in supporting educational institutions beyond Chulalongkorn University. As part of its community development, SCI has provided scholarships to students at universities and schools located near its factory, especially in celebration of its 50th Anniversary.

Additionally, SCI has donated laboratory equipment to universities, enabling them to use these resources for teaching and student training. Although there have been no formal events to recognize these contributions, SCI remains dedicated to promoting education and fostering strong relationships with academic institutions.
